The Poet as City Planner

More from Robert Pinsky.

"The word 'poet' means 'maker'. And I suppose I think of myself as the architect or the builder who makes the house---I make the public building or design the city. I make that city, and then when you wander into it and walk around in it, when you have an apartment in it, and live in it for a while, it is yours."
